G'day.
I started looking at galleries after following links posted by you
people. I loaded up Singapore and quite quickly rejected it as being
unwieldy. Then, after that experience, and being lazy, rejected DIY
galleries and looked at smugmug. (I should say that I have been using
Flickr, which I don't mind so much but I always leave feeling that I
need to achieve something, somehow: a comment, an invite, etc.)
I'm trying smugmug now and so far I quite like it. Mainly because the
default is to present images on black, something that Flickr doesn't
seem to allow, and images look so much better on black. Secondly I
like it because viewers have the opportunity to buy your images. What
a revelation that was. The thought that someone might like a picture
so much that they can buy a print. I think that's great.
The upload tools are not as slick as Flickr's, but some effort
required doesn't bother me. Also I quite liked the search facility and
the ease of adding keywords to images. I guess the slowing down helps
- an less featured upload tool helps you to consider what you're
posting.
I should search for myself, but here is this resource, you. I wonder
what other galleries do you use and why?
Best,
Nic
