It should, but I think is overpriced. My dad had an old (early 80s!) Sony
videocamera which had a white plastic lens cap, in order to adjust the white
balance in a similar way -- no AWB back then! A cheaper solution could be
fitting a piece of white paper over a hood, or even a filter ring.
As already replied by other listées, when shooting outdoors with natural
light (either sunlight or moonlight!) I won't bother with a custom WB, I'll
let the camera on 'sunlight' setting, so to not alter the 'quality' of
light.
A similar device could be useful, though, when shooting with artificial
light (tungsten, fluorescent etc), which may vary from the standard
'tungsten' setting.
