Sand in a lens 40 years ago got me interested in camera service. I was
on vacation with my parents on the Cape of Cod :-) when sand got in the
lens on my new Nikon F ( a Vivitar 135mm f2.8). Focus jammed solid. I
had a set of small screwdrivers with me, took the focus helicoid
apart(with support and guidance from dad), cleaned the grit out, and
reassembled it.
