Now that I've gone public with my line problem, I can't get it to
recur. Imagine that! <g> At any rate, I did discover that there's a
System Profiler under the apple, and if you click on memory, it brings
up a status window, shows you how much of what kind of memory you
have, which slots are occupied and which are empty, and whether the
installed memory is functioning correctly. Since learning of this
nifty little trick, I have been trying to get those line to reappear
so I can check the profile to see if the memory shows any errors. If
that doesn't show anything, I'll take one gig off each memory deck and
see what happens. As best I can tell, there's no way to check the
video card if see if it's functioning as it should. FWIW, this Mac Pro
came with an ATI Radeon X1900 XT with 512MB of VRAM.
