With all this bokeh talk is it the Z. 100 f2 that has the most
consistently smooth bokeh? Clearly foregorund/background distance all
effect this complex lens character along with aperture shape, focal
length, spherical aberrations. Highly corrected flat field lenses seem
to have a heck of a time rendering nice bokeh like the Z. 50 f3.5
macro. The F2 flavor does better at the price of some sharpness in the
corners as CH points out.
The Z. 135 f4 macro is no slouch though with close backgrounds the CV
125 SL apo Lanthar has a smoother rendering. I was suprised that the
Z 85 F2 despite being a small gem (doubling as a mini macro kit with
ext tubes) can have busier bokeh than I had anticipated. Longer FL's
always seem to have an easier time, perhaps due to the physics and a
narrower limited background to start.
If one opened up the contest to non-Zuikos in OM mount on FF (film or
dig), I think the CV 90/3.5 and the 125 both would be in the running.
