Just curious to know what XP is doing or not doing that you think it 
needs a reinstall.  I haven't had to use it since Win 2000 days but 
there the install CD had a "repair" option that was less drastic than a 
full install.  It gave you a fighting chance to preserve all of the 
files and customization that you would have created since the original 
install.

If you system is still limping along press F1 (help) on the desktop 
background and search on "repair overview" to see what options are 
available to you.  If it's not running but you can otherwise get access 
to the internet and Microsoft's web site you should be able to find 
equivalent info about XP on-line.

In any case, if you end up sticking the install CD into the drive look 
for any kind of repair option short of full install.  Do a full install 
only as a last resort.
