Our official working week is 37.5 hours, i.e. 7.5 hours per day. I
have a reasonably senior position, so in practice I work a bit more,
and sometimes also on weekends (but from home). However, I have no
complaints regarding time off. I have about 7 weeks vacation per year,
and in addition Spain has many more public holidays than the
Netherlands (18, to be precise). Finally, our office is closed between
Christmas and New Year, so my annual winter trek to Poland only costs
me a couple of days from the vacation allotment.
My commute is by car. I typically leave work between 5 and 6 p.m. and
sometimes stop for a beer along the beach on my way home. Also,
sometimes interesting things happen at work. For that reason, my
little Domke bag with the Leica outfit always accompanies me to work.
