Thanks, Alan. Mine arrived yesterday. Exact fit except the 2 screw holes are 
about 1/4" closer -- no problem for an X-Acto grinder.

As part of a discussion on the Yahoo Microscopes group, it emerged that a 
well-respected dealer in the USA has about 10 pairs of wooden arm rests for the 
transmitted-light base for the SZ stereo microscope.



I am almost certain that this base is the same as the Trans-Illuminator Base 
X-DE, see the second photograph:
