How does it distinguish between cats and the legs of visitors? Neat trick tho' - but would probably offend water use restrictions around here. Now I had a friend who hated cats and used a sporting slingshot (catapult) with 12mm steel ball bearings on any who entered his garden - the cats didn't 'not come back' - they never actually left. Like a rifle without the noise - he was deadly accurate. But I suppose that's a bit too extreme for most of you.
