That's also kind of cool!
ABB, or rather ASEA used to do this rotating VAR compensations, but we
only do static VAR compensation (SVC) now, static in the meaning of no
rotating parts.
I mostly work with control and protection software around series
capacitors (SC), but been at a few SVCs too. We're right now building
765 kV SC and lots of I-can-kill-you Amperes.
