IIRC, I think that I read somewhere that the Panasonic 4/3rds cameras can read 
and reformat a CF card in this condition. Supposedly, after the Panasonic 
reformat you can then reformat in your Olympus E-510. Any camera dealers near 
enough to give this a try?
