Hi all; Chuck, siddiq, and Chris, (as far as I can remember) asked to see
copies of the images that will be used.
It might be a couple of weeks before all the progress is tied together, and I
have something to show you..
I want people to see the web-site URL (doesn't exist yet) on my business
card (ditto) which they should be able to pick up at the galleries, and to be
able to see their purchase on the site.
What I will be showing are images the gallery owners think will sell the best.
Not necessarily what you or I might want to see first. Flowers, local shots of
things that tourists have seen.
The physical quality also will not be all that great at first either. I have to
work out a price structure, and although it would be nice to have inkjet
images using mineral colours, these are expensive. The first images to be
offered will be ordinary matt prints from the photo lab, framed in cheap
neutral frames bought from a bulk store, and behind non-reflecting glass
(the expensive part).
More expensive alternatives will come later as I see what works and what
doesn't.
The galleries are at last finding that people will actually buy if prices are
less
than prices for fine art.
I might offer a range of qualities from the first - but maybe not either, as
wall
space will be limited.
I have just spent 2+ hours trying to get a satisfactory index page for my new
site written, and a suitable background image done.
The photo I took on an (intuitive?) whim, works fine, but the fine-tuning is
something else. I am very much out of practice at writing simple, old
fashioned (no javascript) pages..
1am and time for bed.
Brian Swale.
