I had the E-1 for almost four years and the E-3 for two months, the only
cases when E-3 is not as sharp as E-1 were due to focusing error, E-3
resolve MUCH better than E-1 in all cases otherwise. The noise control of
E-3 is also much better than E-1.
Talking about color, if you are not using Olympus RAW it is very difficult
to make a compare, third party software may not be that reliable. PhaseOne
C1 just failed the color accuracy for my 5D II files.
Can't remember if E-3 has the "auto gradation" function, I hate it with the
E-520, it pull up the shadows and make lot of noise. For a fair comparison
make sure both E-3 and E-1 has the same setting. Some people also mentioned
the WB of E-3 is not as good as E-1 but it is easy to correct in RAW.
