It was the camera I really wanted but couldn't afford and got an OM-1
instead. My first SLR was a Miranda GT which had a removable
pentaprism. That was important to me for astrophotography. I really
wanted the F1 because the prism was also removable. Although the OM-1
has interchangeable screens the Varimagni finder is a poor substitute
for interchangeable finders and screens that pop in and out of the top
of the body. But it all became much less important when I finally
realized that I didn't have the patience for good astro work. :-)
