It's the BMW straight-6 2.5L turbo diesel motor from a car of the early
1990's.
Well, Autocar magazine (UK) quote in their 9 November 1994 road-test
27 mpg touring, and the government test for 56 mph is 37.9 mpg; both of
these are much better than the typical 4.2L normally aspirated Nissan or
Toyota diesels seen on the roads here. I also want to use it for towing my
1.3 tonne boat over mountain passes. Haven't used this boat for more years
than I care to tell, and now at my age I'm going to use it a few times if it's
the
last thing I do ....
It will also be handy for going skiing.
I consider I'm doing OK to get 44 mpg from my little RWD 1983 Starlet,
which is a LOT lighter.
