The same tools are available to you in PhotoShop by opening JPEGs or
TIFFs in ACR. From Bridge you have the option of opening any file in
ACR. If you use another browser such as FastStone or BreezeBrowser you
have to set PhotoShop file type preferences to prefer ACR when the file
opens. But only JPEGs can be set up that way. For TIFFs you need to
use Bridge. When ACR opens a JPEG or 8 bit TIFF it will automatically
convert to 16 bit and pass 16 bits to PhotoShop if you open the image
there after ACR editing.
