The EF 100/2.8 Macro is an IF design lens with multiple moving groups
(three, I believe). From the looks of it, when close-focused, the lens forms
four distinct groups. In essence, the lens has it's own built-in
multiplier. It is hard to dis. this lens, though. For field macro, I liked
the longer focal-lengths Canon and Nikon offer, but I wouldn't hesitate to
have this lens in my kit if I shot Canon. The Bokeh is not as "predictable"
as a classic non-floating design, but the lens is capable of more exacting
work.
