[OM] Film scanning - need help

I spent this afternoon scanning some daylight exposed Fuji NPS 160 iso 6 x 7 
colour negatives with a Nikon LS-9000 film scanner using the 8.5 pro version 
of VueScan. The scans were perfect.

After a break of a few hours I returned to the same task. This time the 
preview scans all have an overall very distinct bright red hue and the 
unexposed strips between each negative scan are a very bright red hue 
indeed.

Is anyone able to tell me what might be causing this VueScan red problem?

When using the Nikon dedicated scanning ICE software the red problem is not 
evident.
