I previously hit send accidently, before I checked the numbers I had jotted
down for the weight comparisons of flashes. See previous post below
Here is an updated, corrected, more detailed comparison, between Metz and Tseries
flashes.
----------------------------------
John,
I love the Metz CT60's, but as you say the pack when used
with Dryfit battery is rather heavy on your shoulder. However...
That is why I replaced the dryfit (~1200gm) with a Li-FePO4 battery (200gm).
This can also be (safely) completely recharged in 20 minutes. It also produces
10% more, full power (200J) flashes than the stock Dryfit.
Remember the T32 is a 70J flash, so the CT60 Metz is equivalent ~3xT32's
Note the T45 is almost as heavy as CT60 with Pb Dryfit battery, but all the
weight is on camera, while Ct60 is mostly in pack on shoulder.
The Li battery powered Metz Ct60 version, is much lighter than a T45 and
achieves 80% more flashes, with an on camera more like that of a T32.
Note the *on camera* Metz head is similar to T32 in wt, but much easier to hold
with its convenient handle grip..
Here is a summary of weight comparisons:
T32 440gm 70J, GN32m, 24mm
CT60-1 481gm (head on camera ) 200J,GN60m, 28mm
CT60-4 650gm (head on camera ) 200J,GN60m, 28mm
CT60-1 1024gm (tot head+pack,with Li Batt), >180 full flashes
T45 1569gm (tot,all on camera) 140J,GN45m,24mm,100flashes
CT60-1 1611gm (tot head+pack, with Pb Dryfit) 160 full flashes
CT60-4 1173gm (tot,head+pack, with Li batt)
-----------------------------------------------------
Here is detailed breakdown:
T32
Spec no battery 320gm
Batt 4xNiMh 120gm (sanyo 30gm/cell, ultralast 26gm/cell = 104gm)
Total 440gm
--------------------------------------------------------
T45
Spec (no battery) 1129gm
Battery measured 440gm
Total 1569gm
(spec 100 full 70J flashes)
-------------------------------------------------------------
Metz CT60-1 (with Pb Dryfit)
Gun head CT60-1 481gm
Pack+ Dryfit Batt 1130gm
Pack+Dryfit+Head CT60-1 1611gm
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battery comparison:
Dryfit Batt alone 900gm (Dryfit spec 160 full 200J flashes)
LiFePO4 alone 314gm (LiFePO4 >180 full 200J flashes)
4xNiMh cells 100-120gm
8xNiMh cells 200-240gm
------------------------------------------------------------------
Metz CT60-1 (with LiFePO4)
Gun head CT60-1 481gm
Pack+LiFePO4 544gm
Pack+LiFePO4+HeadCT60-1 1024gm
------------------------------------------------------------------
Newer CT60-4 head is 160gm heavier, has more features + extra fill flash tube)
Pack+LiFePO4+HeadCT60-4 1173gm
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
