Well,
The new Radiopoppers are not vaporware, it appears. They redesigned the
Jr. to "JrX" In one configuration it appears to be able to remotely
adjust manual power level on Alien Bees,
but I haven't studied the details. They doubled the price on the basic
configuration to about 100 bucks for a transmitter and receiver---alas
will not reach Dr. Flash's
office from Massachusetts but speced out at 1700ft. One caveat is that
they make very clear not to use a flash with a TV> 200V. I have one
from the Pleistocene
that is 250V that does a nice job triggered by the yabe slaves on a
bracket. Not a job for a JrX. I'll wait for a bit of feedback prior to
placing the cheap yabe radioslaves on the bench.

The PX version by the ship date in February is slated to support Oly
and Pentx--for those that wish to play with radio triggered non line of
sight TTL w/o
spending a grand for a Qflash. (need to read the fine print in a pdf to
find this) Still a good piece of change, however.
A Smarticle for on camera flash rounded up all the usual suspects but
he liked the 580EXII more than its predecessor
with the normal auto mode---buried in a nested menu. I believe Dr.
Flash has already mentioned this.

Happy flashing or non flashing and best wishes for a good year for all
list members.
