Ambergris Caye, about 22 miles north of San Pedro. First thing I noticed
when landing at the airport Was the "Decompression Center", with a large
sign. No sand flees, but plenty of misquitos and these:

There is a barrier reef that extends up the coast, creating a channel where
everyone goes up and down in boats. The reef actually makes the water
a bit on the weedy side. At the place we stayed, due to the wind, the
beaches were constantly filling with seaweed, and raked by the local
staff, filling many wheel barrels every day.
I would not rate Belize very high on the beaches, and my wife requires
good beaches. The diving and snorkeling was good. But I probably
will not go back there again, as there are some other places that
have better overall experience, namely, if the wife is not too happy
it is hard to have a good time. :-)
