Oh, so true. However, in an emergency you are trying to communicate with
one. It doesn't matter which end is VoIP (or in this specific case, Voice
over the Internet). Of course, to make matters worse, almost half of all
Vonage and Skype users don't properly register their physical addresses, so
when the emergency call comes in, the 911 center has no idea where you are
calling from. This continues to be a HUGE problem inspite of the hoops V/S
put you through. And even then there is absolutely no guarantee the address
is entered correctly. Here in Iowa (different phone company, fortunately),
we had an emergency call where the 911 address showed up incorrectly and was
almost a mile off. The person died. One reason why when you call 911 to
give your location immediately.
