As I have said here before, I have found CHDK to be more than helpful in
use with my A710 IS and A650 IS. In fact, I would likely not have bought
the A650 without knowing that CHDK would add the missing features to go
with the wonderful twist and tilt screen.
The A710 has moved on to a brother; the A650 remains my go to camera
whenever the 5D would be too, big, heavy, etc. The RAW capability added
to it simply what "makes" it as a serious camera. There are
inconveniences to using these unofficial RAW files. At least for me,
they are fully offset by the ability to get such high quality images
from such a small, flexible camera.
I have never had a single instance of trouble with CHDK on either camera.
