If I remember correctly diesel in a petrol engine is ok ish, the fuel
won't ignite once the mix gets to a sufficient sparcity of petrol so
diluting it should be ok, however petrol in a diesel causes problems
because diesel has more lubricative properties (a bit like to stroke)
than petrol hence the damage to the fuel pump and it also attacks and
rubber seals in the system causing them to fail.
however I don't personally wish to test the above out.
