Hi All,
I purchased a 24mm f/2.0 MC (SN# 103xxx) on Ebay, which arrived today.
The lens looks fantastic, operates
smoothly, etc - but there is one problem: The lens has a substantial
yellow cast - when you look through
the viewfinder, it looks like a pretty strong warm-up filter has been
fitted.
I plan to shoot exclusively B&W with this setup (I use my Mamiya and
Linhof for colour landscapes) but
I was wondering, is this a similar problem to the rare-earth elements
that yellow in the notorious early
copies of the 55mm f/1.2 lens? Did they use similar (rare-earth)
elements in the early 24/2.0 MC lenses?
I have heard that placing a yellowed 55/1.2 in direct sunlight could
clear it up, is it worth trying with
the 24mm, or is this some other problem you guys know about?
thanks for the expertise :-) I could live with this lens like this,
but obviously would prefer a slightly
less warm outlook on life, if possible.
regards,
Dawid
