Absolutely correct, in my book, Moose. Though to my mind you might have put
".. the correct usage is a plural ..."

I'm not entirely convinced. If I had written the whole thing out, without
substituting pronouns for nouns, it would read "I must point out that by now
the correct word is a plural, hypotheses." That is clearly singular.
