Well, my random thought may have found the proximate cause. I tried
using a different outgoing SMTP server - and magically started receiving
my own posts to the list on gmail.
The list traffic is still subject to lengthy, random seeming delays, so
I can't really match up my sent folder with what I've received, but it
looks as if they may all come through.
So it may be true that it is a 'feature", in that someone went to the
trouble of coding to parse out incoming email from oneself. Not bad, if
it were an option that one could set.
