One of the things I like about digicams with low noisse at high ISOs is
that I can capture images of art in galleries where flash is prohibited.
I really like being able to relive the visit through images. They aren't
the real thing, but when I've seen the real thing, they work well to
bring back the memory.
The discussion of noise in the F30 got me to finish up a gallery of
images from the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. It's one part
of the SF Art Museums, and a handsome building in a beautiful setting.
After visiting a traveling exhibit that didn't allow photography, we
wandered down one wing of the museum's collection.

Note that all shots are at ISO 1600 except for two shots at ISO 800.
Also, all are at -2/3 EV. That's partly to control highlights, but also
to give a higher effective sensor speed and increase shutter speed. With
the help of NR, the underexposure can be recovered without significant
noise problems. It gives the equivalent of ISO 2200 or so without the
higher noise of using the camera's 3200 setting.
