Well I just entered the digital age (DSLR age, that is), quite by
accident.
I flew from Seattle to Cleveland yesterday with my five-year-old son,
and in the ensuing chaos, left my buttpack with my trusty Fuji F31fd
on the plane. :-( So what else could I do, but buy a E-420 at the
nearest big box store? I can't miss the moments of the first "solo"
trip with my boy! Couldn't find the 25/2.8 kit, so I got the 14-42
lens...and so may actually be paying the 15% restocking fee when we
get back to Seattle. We'll see. Before the trip I'd almost worked
myself up to getting an E-3 and 12-60, but had decided I really needed
to sell my Leica MP and lenses before shelling out that kind of cash.
When it came down to it, the E-420 seemed like a good and reasonable
way to test the waters, and the small size and light weight appeals to
me in exactly the same way the OM-1 appealed to me in 1976.
More later....
