GN depends strictly on flash tube characteristics and the energy stored
in the capacitor. There is nothing a power source can do to change that
or to change the power output.
However, it is possible for it to seem that higher power is the case
under some circumstances and/or usage practices. The flash ready light
comes on before the capacitor has reached full charge, perhaps as early
as 80%. The delay time from light on to full charge will be shorter with
a power source with a higher charge rate.
So in rapid, repeated use, or when the user impatiently shoots as soon
as the ready light is seen, the average actual output could be higher
with BG2 or F.AC Adapter 2 or 3 than with on board batteries, especially
alkalines. The GN for full charge output will not have changed.
