Probably valid for most implementations but a TIFF file may optionally
incorporate lossless compression and throw off the computation. But,
for most images, using lossless compression would not likely lead to a
50% or greater reduction in file size. So, in the example given, if the
file size was greater than 62MB by more than a modest amount one would
have to conclude it was compressed 16 bit.
