The manual is totally obscure on automatic focus point selection but I assume that the algorithm (just like Canon's) is very simple... choose the closest point. Probably suitable for most point and shoot picture takers. My guess is that you'll decide within 5 minutes or so to choose the center focus point as the only active one. Then you'll be quite sure where it's going to focus. Also, check page 77 of the E-510 manual for the means of moving the autofocus off the shutter button and onto the AEL/AFL button. I find that having the autofocus button as part of the shutter button gives the camera too much opportunity to focus on the wrong thing if I'm not paying close attention. Getting it off the shutter button make it more like using your OM's and puts you back in control.
