Rising oil prices have renewed interest in drilling for gas in the Marcellus Formation <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcellus_Formation> which some believe may possibly be the largest natural gas reserve in North America. Gas can be found in Pennsylvania and southern New York at about 1/2 the depth of elsewhere in the formation. Gas drillers have recently embarked on frenetic land leasing in favorable spots. Some local land owners are right now raking in goodly amounts of money just for exploration leases. If gas is found they'll typically get 15% royalties in addition. <http://www.pressconnects.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/99999999/NEWS01/80507030&theme=gaslease&template=gas> Chuck Norcutt Chris Crawford wrote: > Natural gas (methane) is very common here in the USA but the infrastructure > isn't in place to deliver it outside the cities and major towns. > > People here don't usually get what they want...they get what the corporate > masters let 'trickle down' to them. > > ============================================== List usage info: http://www.zuikoholic.com List nannies: olympusadmin@xxxxxxxxxx ============================================== |
