Hello all, long time lurker, few time poster here.
I'm interested in kite aerial photography, and I'm looking for a light weight
camera. I gather from reading around that most people prefer to suspend the
camera semi-permanently from the kite, and use a remote trigger system. I'm
playing around with a "dolly" type contraption that sails up the kite string on
pulleys, trips the shutter, and returns to the ground to view the image, or
advance the film, or whatever.
So I'm looking for a very light weight camera to ride along. I've identified a
few in the 1-4 oz range (<100g or so), but most appear to be pretty horrible
quality wise. I expect to make some compromises with image quality in a camera
so light, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has any experience or
recommendations for cameras in this weight range.
So far I've found the Polaroid iZone 300, 310, DC-1908E, and SlimCam 300.
Any ideas for 1-3 megapixel cameras in the sub 4oz, (100g) range with image
quality that at least isn't horrendous? If nothing exists, I'll make the sail
larger and could probably handle 8oz (200g) with modifications.
OM content: my OM-2n is a bit too heavy for this contraption.
Thanks,
Marten
