They are just small piles of salt, maybe 3 feet high, that they pile up to
be loaded onto trucks and hauled away for processing into table salt. It is
hard to get any perspective of size because of the size of the salt flat and
it being so flat. The salt flat there is about 12,000 square kilometers in
total. You can drive on it at 60 mph for half an hour and not seem to be
making any progress at all.
