That was Boston. Where I am now in upstate New York near Binghamton
(195,000 population for the entire county) the only store that actually
advertises itself as a photography store doesn't actually sell any
cameras... none. When I left here in 1971 it was the area's major photo
store and carried a pretty complete line of SLR's and lenses. 37 years
later it has retrenched to a shop about 1/10 its former size and
subsists on sales of tripods, cases, and photo processing services.
But I probably could find a Nikon or Canon consumer grade DSLR at a
discount department or electronics store. Maybe even an E-410 or E-510.
I'll have to check the next time I'm out.
