Just fabulous photos Garth.
Nowhere mentioned is the relative scale of the backdrop to the far end of
Lake Louise.
My wife and I have walked the length of the lake in all seasons; the path is
on the right hand side of the lake as seen in photos 3 and 4. The lake is a
couple of kilometers long from the Chateau and the path is an easy half hour
walk one way.
The distance from the far end of the lake to the wall below the hanging
Victoria Glacier is over 10 miles. We have walked and cross country skiied
from the end of the lake to the tree line at the low point in photos 3 and 4
; the round trip trip took several hours. Covering the snow covered distance
to the wall below the hanging glacier would be a hard day's trip for an
experienced AND very fit individual with all the proper clothing and gear.
We have also hiked to the tree line on Castle Mountain seen in the last of
Garth's photos; the view down the valley was out of this world.was.
Again Garth, these are wonderful photos. As someone who has stood in the
exact same spot from which each photo was taken they bring back lots of
memories.
