January is a good time to reflect on the abundance in one's life. I have a
class starting next Monday with a couple of slots left open. I had a call
and a registration come in out of the blue on Wednesday. The previous night I
had received a first place and honorable mention award in the 2007 color
print competition with Houston Photographic Society. Yesterday morning as I
was
leaving home to go to work, I noticed the first two Monarch butterflies of
the year hatching on our patio where we attract them with milkweed. Their
presence always reminds me of the miracle of life . . . even when I'm not
photographing them. We usually get a number of generations of them passing
through
on their journey each year. One of these years, before too long, I may join
them at their destination in Mexico. Yesterday afternoon, I got an email
from the Krappy Kamera exhibit that one (or perhaps more) of my images had
been
selected for inclusion in the 50 print exhibit scheduled for March at the
SOHO Photo Gallery in NYC. The exhibit, juried by Jill Enfield, was selected
from over 1200 entries. I had an image in the show last year and hope the
third time (next year) will be the charm with one of my images placing in the
top
4 or 5 for the year. Until then, I plan to keep on playing, keeping my eyes
open and counting my blessings. <[B^) Bill Barber
