There was an excellent special in New Scientist a couple of years ago,
on all things migraine (but with some aim towards finding out just what
migraine actually is, and what is going on to cause it). It was
fascinating to me, though I noted, from an item in the Letters page of a
subsequent issue, that someone took exception to their use of the idea,
and perhaps even phrasing, of "It's all in your head". Maybe that person
read that particular issue on one of *those* days - I'll admit that
appreciation of humour can be a stretch at those times. <g>
It was fascinating to me because one explanation revolved around
hypersensitivity and "false readings", with "feedback" involved (as I'm
sure you, Ken, in one of your other fields of expertise, can quite well
appreciate :-) ) in an area of the brain dedicated to pain-sense.
Naturally, this also brought up "biofeedback". Basically, this
explanation suggested it *was* "all in your head". It was interesting
stuff, anyway. I really should subscribe, as I believe they have full
archives available to subscribers online.
FWIW, migraine is almost never photography-related to me, except via the
camera strap. The idea of looking through a viewfinder or at a rear-LCD
or doing some "post-processing" is about as attractive as staring at a
lit fluorescent tube through a spinning fan via it's reflection in a
computer monitor displaying a rollercoaster Doom session, with two
baby-monitors, channelling hungry babies, strapped to your ears.
Cheers,
Marc
