Hmm, slightly less encouraging is that the 6AA batteries have to be
alkalines or lithium, not NiMH.  A freshly charged set of Eneloops
will fire up the camera, but then it says "battery empty" as soon as
you try focusing on anything. :(  Oh well, a couple of Uniross's
finest BLM-1-alikes it is, then.
