Hi, All:
I just finished looking through 6 rolls of film taken during peak of Geminid
Meteor shower on Dec12-13. I had two OM-1 cameras taking 2 minute bulb
exposures with 24mm and 17mm lenses. I was looking at the film with a
Rodenstock 3x loupe and light table. It occurred to me that perhaps an old film
strip projector...like the ones my grade school teachers used...would give me a
better chance to pick out the fainter meteor trails. Does anyone have any
negative thoughts about this plan.
Thanks,
Orin

I use a light box slide sorter for the overview. I recently splurged for
a new, metal one that will hold a whole 38 frame roll and retired the
centuries old cardboard one with very yellow plastic tray and that
wouldn't hold a whole roll at once.
Big splurge - $35.

I then use one of the ubiquitous little daylight balanced light boxes
for a closer look. $20

Although I have accumulated various magnifying devices over the years, a
standard 50 mm lens held reversed works rather well. Usually $0 for a
photographer.
Total - $55 plus shipping.
At least for me, a big, expensive, color balanced light table for
sorting is overkill. I'm very happy sorting on the sorter. I like the
way it holds the slides, as opposed to sliding all over on the light
table. Not great color balance, but I don't care when going through a
bunch for subject, framing, etc.
The little light box is pretty well light balanced after a warm-up of a
few minutes, and easy to find room for on my crowded desk.
The box is small and the sorter folds up for storage.
