If it is gray market, Nikon USA will not repair it. Nikon, like
others, does not supply electronic parts to third party repair
facilities. So that road is closed. I also seriously doubt that low
estimate of repairs for replacement of the "electronic card". Seems
like a bad deal to me.
For just a few bucks more($360) or maybe less than you would spend on
the broken camera you could buy a used D100 body from KEH with their
sterling condition rating and guarantee and LOTS less uncertainty. Or
a new D40 with kit lens and a $100 credit toward LightRoom from B&H
for $475.
