Equipment in Japan is definitely cheaper than Australia. Not sure about
Europe/USA but I assume they are cheaper in JP.
Check out some of the big camera stores, like Bic - AMAZING. The entire
range of all cameras and equipment out on display (not behind glass), fully
charged and ready for you to try out hands on. Really something else.
When I was in Tokyo I got a Canon P&S with a 2gb card and genuine leather
case for about 33% cheaper than the price for the camera alone in Australia
- and that was without bargaining. Check out membership too, you often earn
credit you can spend immediately and membership is free (that is how I got
my accessories). I sound like an ad, I promise I am not affiliated - just
really impressed by the setup there.
