Our words give us most of the real power to which we have access. As long
as your words deny you access to the choices it would appear might be
important to you, those choices will most likely remain unavailable to you.
The
choices we have available today are, IMHO based on my life experience, a
function
of the words we have spoken and the choices we have made in the past. There
are choices made in the past, which most would not have made, which provide
me with the choices I have today. Your choices today will create your
choices tomorrow. Here is an easy choice that will change your life. Live
beneath
your means. Simply stated, "Spend less than you bring home." No whining
allowed about how I can't do it because of all these circumstances over which
I
have no control. Well this may not really be that easy because most would
have to behave is a manner totally foreign to them. It is a little
uncomfortable at first and becomes easier. Start at 5% of your income and see
if you
can work your way up to 15%. It is magic! I specifically am not saying to
"save to spend" (to buy the new camera) but rather am saying to "save to save"
to provide different choices many years in the future. Remember, no
whining, no blaming, no excuses. Watch your words. Don't abdicate your
power.
"X Files" was one of my favorites, so I believe "The truth is out there."
In the arena of politics (which is a direction you have decided to take this
thread) the truth is to be found in the middle, rather than on either end of
the spectrum which is the territory inhabited by those who make most of us
want to puke. It is on the extreme ends of the political spectrum that much of
the blaming of others occurs. It is also the territory "sound bites" and made
up "facts." This list is not the place for those who "need" to have a place
for agreement with there particular flavor of dissatisfaction with life.
What works on this list, again IMHO, is my being able to discuss photography
with like minded folks, go for a walk in the woods with a visiting OM list
member as I did yesterday or perhaps spending a few days on an island in the
middle of Lake Superior camping and doing some photography with some list
members.
Today, I will use my cameras. I'm not sure exactly how yet, however it will
happen and I will enjoy the experience. I will also be thankful that I have
that activity as a choice.
