I can't help you with the Gitzo but I do have the Markins Q3
ballhead and it is fabulous. Words cannot describe how much better it is
than the Bogen pistol grip ballhead it replaced.

B&H has the Gitzo 1257 leveling tripod on special. Not a bad price.
Anyone got one of these? I'm thinking with a Markins ball head it
might be just the ticket for a more heavyweight system, and right now
the price is right. But I've no experience with Gitzo, and I know
they've recently changed their numbering system, and the 1257 is from
the old school, which might also explain why it's on special. Still,
I like that leveling system, _if_ it's stable enough.
Thoughts appreciated.
