"The original AP was the first camera to feature a pentaprism and was the
first body in Pent@x's history"
They seem to have let their excitement at the anniversary get in the way of
reality. The AP was certainly not the first camera to feature a pentaprism,
not even the first 35mm camera to feature a pentaprism. Among the
predecessors of the Pent@x was the Cont@x S, an East German camera made at
the former Cont@x works - the works which later became known as Pent@con.
As I recall the brand name that was used was an adaptation of the Cont@x
name to reflect the pentaprism added (Pentaprism + Cont@x) ... the name was
Pent@x, and Asahi Optical bought the rights to the name from the East
Germans.
But don't let that spoil the party.
