My wife and I are in Vegas this week on vacation. Last night, we ran
across Peter Lik's gallery in The Venetian -- whoa.
Prints taller than I am. And razor-sharp. Scary sharp. Breathtaking
colors. Detail that blows your mind. And anywhere from $14k to $21k.
Needless to say, we didn't get one.
I would have sworn he used some sort of large-format digital. But then
I found the framed 120-width transparency, and realized he was using an
old-school film pano camera. That was an impressive piece of film, to
say the least. Anyone know what camera he uses? My guess is either the
Fuji or the Horseman.
The prints, however, must be digital. The color saturation is nothing
short of surreal, and at times, IS surreal.
His only US galleries are here in Vegas - one at Mandalay Bay, one at
the Venetian, and one at Caesar's. (Actually, he does have on in
Lahaina if you're in Hawaii). If you're ever here, you really owe it to
yourself to see them. His other galleries are all in his native Australia.
I just wish he would offer, smaller, cheaper non-limited prints of
certain images.
