Nice article. On an Oly DLSR it gives you a 100 mm crop which is
right in the middle of the range usual for portraits. I might argue a
bit with his assertions about current zoom quality vs. a 50 mm of
very old design, but it is hard to argue with size and weight, the
intimidation factor, and the ability to throw the background out of
focus. The simple design of most normal lenses makes for very nice
bokeh in those out of focus areas.
