You likely don't recall the MTF data I fwd'd to the list on this lens
18-24 mos ago.
An optics person at Cosina was kind enough to fwd it to me with
comments. This nice lens goes to 1:1 and has quite
nice bokeh--some think nicer than many of the Nik. lenses for macro. I
have the very nice Zuiko 135 and 80mm macro with the auto tube and have
enjoyed using them. In any event have the auto tube on the lepp 2
bracket requires a lens change to increase the Mag---not too
convenient chasing critters.

I have seen many photos using it on the CVUG site as well as an
analysis using it on a 5D (in Spanish, however)
(Paul had done some research on it and it is not truly APO at 1:1 and
the Viv 90mm is better in that application. The Kiron Moose likes is
obviously no slouch either or the newer Tamron 90 that I think goes
directly 1:1.)
So began keeping an eye out for it, though it is heavy and a bit more
than I wanted to spend at the time for this limited application. I
thought I would be using OM less by now, though that is not the case.
I designated this the quest for Big Foot.
In any event I went after it big time, though missed a snipe on one
with some smudges on an internal element.
Camera Quest had none in this mount left. I contacted Stephen Gandy
there to ask him if there was any chance of finding one new. His one
word reply was "None." Jeff had mentioned that I might make progress
with a Japanese speaker, given they are more common in Japan. Not to
be deterred, I contacted some worldwide dealers. Most did not respond,
though a Malaysian Cosina-Voigt. dealer commented in passing that he
may have seen one in a small shop in Tokyo a few months back. I pinged
him back to see if he could remember the store and a few days later he
sent a link to a shop---all in Japanese with no e-mail though a tel #.
I do have a friend who was fluent 10 years ago, though this seemed
like a terrible long shot. I did not wish to bother Keiji Kato at
Cosina yet again, though that seemed the only option. Lo and behold
the lens was there, he obtained it, and it is on its way!!!! They
billed it thorough CameraQuest to keep things kosher with the import....
I'll need to do something for KK as a thank-you.
Mr. Gandy did seem a bit surprised.
Anyway, there you have it--brand spankin new macro lens for OM. A bit
of an extravagance, though I bought myself my own B'day present.
(still working on more rationalizations) Thought some may be
interested or at least amused.
