I've found that many small independent business people can be very hard to see
out of the box they are use to dealing in. They accomplish what they have
through some combination of presistance, hard work and luck. They are not
necessarily that smart or flexible. I think this is what you are running into
with some of these people. The diner I frequent is very much that way. It's
taken a change of generation where a daughter has taken over to change
anything.
